Keep in mind that new residents can only obtain Tennessee driver’s licenses if they don’t have any outstanding suspensions, revocations, or cancellations on their out-of-state licenses. However, if you’re an upstanding citizen, then you simply have to bring the following items with you when you visit your respective Tennessee DMV:
The state of Tennessee requires you to register your vehicle within 30 days of moving in. You’ll need to visit your local County Clerk’s office to update your vehicle registration, which will cost $26.50 for standard non-commercial cars, trucks, & SUVs. You’ll want to bring the documents mentioned above, as well as the name and or address of the lien holder to whom you are making payments OR, in the event of no lien holder, your out-of-state title.
